Jelle Boumans (Amstelveen, 1982) is Assistant Professor for Corporate Communication at the Department of Communication Science and at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR). In 2013 he was awarded an NWO grant for a PhD project on the relationship between organizations, news agencies and news media. The research was conducted within the Corporate Communication Group of the Amsterdam School of Communication Research under the supervision of Rens Vliegenthart and Hajo Boomgaarden. Before joining the Corporate Communication group, Jelle was active in the Political Communication and Journalism group, researching the personalization of politics and teaching courses on the production of (international) news. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals like European Journal of Communication, Journalism Studies, Political Studies and Digital Journalism. His research interests are in the field of media production and public relations, news subsidiaries, news agencies, and mediatisation. Jelle’s preferred research method is (automated) content analysis. Current courses that he teaches are the bachelor thesis project ‘Organizations in the News’, Introduction to Research Methodology and Research Practical Training in Content Analysis.
