Scott has been studying corporate communication since he began his academic career at DePaul University in Chicago. While completing his Bachelor in Communication Studies and Master in Organizational & Multicultural Communication at DePaul, he spent several years working in the field of corporate training and development before moving to Santa Barbara to pursue his PhD in Communication at the University of California. Scott’s research focuses on how digital technologies are reshaping organizational communication practices and the boundaries between private, corporate, and public life. His current research projects examine the affordances, uses, and implications of public social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) for navigating work/life boundaries, maintaining information privacy, managing corporate stakeholder relations, and communicating corporate social responsibility.
