Research in the program group Communication, Organisations and Society (COS) broadly focuses on the role organizations play in our society. We primarily aim to understand communication processes between organizations and their environment against the backdrop of important societal issues and developments. In this context, we study Mediatization & Politicization, Distrust & Legitimacy, Artificial Intelligence & Communication Technology, and Social Inequality & Sustainability. As part of the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR), our group primarily differentiates itself by studying these themes in relation to organizations using the theoretical lens of communication theories.
